Can You Complete the Connection?

Posted by:

The balled is snapped. The Quarterback drops back, sees an open receiver and lets the ball fly.  If the receiver catches it, it is a completion.   Football analogies may not be your game but when you communicate making a connection is the point of every play.  Incomplete communication will lose your audience.  When you speak what you say, what you think and what you feel must come together so your listeners can catch your message.

You must be in the game ...

What Does Your Vanity Say?

What Follows Your Glory?

Posted by:

On a glorious August evening, the rising moon blew a kiss to the setting sun.  The affectionate breath carried away the heat of the day, comfortably caressing Jane’s face.    As she entered the garden, heading to the meeting, her thoughts began echoing through her head.

I won. I really won.  I can’t wait to tell everyone that I won.  Her steps quickened.  She had told herself that competing in a speech contest was no big deal, but now that she has ...

Is Your Balance Moving?

Posted by:

The lectern wobbled as John placed his notes and a water bottle upon it.  The notes slid to the restraining edge while the bottle teetered as he tried to steady it.  Surveying the room, he sighed.  The chairs were all crooked.  Surrounding the chairs were candy wrappers, Cola cans, and confetti.  He sighed again and began cleaning.

John knew what he wanted the room to look like, and so in short order, the chairs were aligned in even rows and all ...

Do You Plan For Adversity?

Posted by:

Great speeches come not from what you have done, but from what you have overcome. Adversity has a habit of hanging out at the edge of our abilities, or at our self perceived limits. When you give a speech, you will find adversity in preparing, in presenting, and in refining. Here are a few ways to turn the inevitable into the incredible.

In retrospect, everyone gives three speeches. The first, is the one you planned on giving. The second, is the ...
